Cierre de Carreteras por rodaje pelicula Cloud Atlas con Halley Berry y Tom Hanks.
Segun informan desde la Federacion Hotelera de Mallorca el rodaje de la Pelicula Cloud Atlas , protagonizada entre otros actores por Halley Berry y Tom Hanks sera la causante del cierre de las siguientes carreteras cercanas a Soller .
Serra the Tramuntana Road to Sa Calobra.
Consell de Mallorca por el que se nos indica que el próximo día 17 de noviembre de 2011, va a procederse, por parte de las autoridades competentes, a cierres intermitentes de la carretera MA-2210 de Puerto Pollensa-Formentor.
De igual forma, los días 18 y 19 de noviembre de 2011 se producirán cortes intermitentes de tráfico en la carretera MA-2141 de Sa Calobra.
El motivo por el cual se procede al cierre de las mismas, viene motivado por el rodaje en dichas carreteras de escenas cinematográficas que formaran parte de la película Cloud Atlas, que contará con la participación de actores y actrices internacionalmente conocidos.

I Jornadas Senderismo y Turismo Montaña Soller Mallorca
Bajo el patrocinio entre otros del la Federacion HOtelera de Soller se llevara a cabo Los días 29, 30 y 31 de octubre, el valle de Sóller acogerá las I Jornadas Internacionales de Senderismo y Turismo de Montaña, un acontecimiento que han llevado a cabo conjuntamente la Consejería de Turismo y Trabajo, el Ayuntamiento de Sóller, la Asociación Hotelera de Sóller y la Federación Balear de Montañismo y Escalada. En esta primera edición se espera contar con la participación de diferentes representantes nacionales e internacionales vinculados en el mundo de senderismo y el turismo de montaña.
Estas jornadas constituirán un foro para el intercambio de conocimientos, experiencias y reflexiones sobre el senderismo y su desarrollo como producto turístico. Diferentes especialistas en la materia abordarán cuestiones como la oferta existente del turismo de montaña en España y el resto de Europa, estrategias para la promoción y comercialización del turismo de montaña como factor importante en la desestacionalización o la profesionalización de las actividades entorno al senderismo y el turismo de montaña, con el objetivo de analizar la situación actual y las perspectivas de futuro.

More Hiking around the Port
Citric Hotel is frequented by many hikers and outdoorsmen. It’s not surprising when you consider the many quality hiking trails near Port de Soller and it’s surroundings. One of these trails is GR-221, which connects several towns on the northwest coast of the island.
One one of my days off I decided to take a full-day excursion on GR-221. From the Port the trail climbs to progressively higher and higher altitudes, offering stunning view of Soller. You will also pass through the charming nearby village of Biniaraix. After Biniaraix you enter the mountains and are greeted by the sites of olive trees, old stone walls, and maybe even a sheep or two. The trail is well-marked, easy to follow, and offers a number of «water points» for you to refill your bottle.
Originally, only planned to hike for a few hours before retuning back to Citric Hotel. But it was difficult for me to stop when around every corner I discovered another beautiful vista . Pack a lunch and leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful path. You won’t be disappointed .
The Great Outdoors of Mallorca
If you’re a fan of the outdoors, you’ll have plenty to do during your stay at Citric Hotel. One of best ways to enjoy the stunning beauty of the island is to take a hike on one of Mallorca’s many trails. All you have to do to get started is put on a pair of sturdy shoes, grab a hiking map from the front desk, and head out the front door. Citric Hotel is located on the base of Camino del Faro Muleta, the street that leads to one of Port de Sóller’s two lighthouses. Just beyond the lighthouse is the trailhead for a path along the Mediterranean that leads to Deià. At all trailheads there is a clearly-marked information point with a map, the difficulty of the hike, and the estimated time for completion.
A few days ago I wandered down this path after work to do a little exploring. The trail was so beautiful that what was supposed to be a short stroll turned into a multi-hour journey. It’s tough to turn around and head home when around every corner lies a new panorama of plants, boulders, and sea to marvel at. I also took a short nap under a tree, which I highly recommend if you have the time. Maybe you could pack a lunch, walk to Deia, and make a whole day out of it? I was also pleasantly surprised that I did not run into anyone else; I felt like I had the whole island to myself. Well, that’s not entirely true. I did meet one friend along the way.
He didn’t have much to say.
There are many, many other trails near Port de Soller and further afield in Mallorca that I want to try. Hopefully I can report back soon with more pictures. Just remember to pack your hiking shoes (and walking sticks, if you are German) when you stay at Citric Hotel.

Entre mar y montaña. Allí se encuentra el encantador puerto de Sóller. La brisa resalta las dos esencias que desprende: los naranjos y el aroma pesquero que sólo los puertos pueden ofrecer. Situado en plena Sierra de Tramuntana, ha sido refugio de navegantes de todos los tiempos, y entre su belleza natural encontramos el entrañable barrio de Santa Catalina, con su ambiente pesquero y sus callecitas de nombres de cuento: oficios, peces y ,cómo no, los nombres de los vientos que azotan la Sierra de Tramuntana.
Descripción:
El recogido puerto de Sóller, a unos dos kilómetros de Sóller, comprende el mayor puerto natural de la costa norte de Mallorca, que a lo largo de la historia ha servido de abrigo y refugio para los navegantes. La historia del puerto, unida irremediablemente al comercio de cítricos desde el siglo XIV, conoció durante el siglo XVIII la época de mayor esplendor, no sólo por la exportación de productos locales, sino por ser el punto estratégico entre las islas y otros continentes donde recalaban pescadores, barcos mercantes, así como los barcos de pasajeros de los numerosos mallorquines que a finales del siglo XIX emigraron hacia un destino incierto, en busca de un futuro mejor.
Toda esta actividad comercial se vio truncada al estallar la Guerra Civil Española (1936-1939), siendo reactivada años después por el boom turístico de los 60’.
Al fondo de la bahía del puerto, se encuentra el encantador barrio de Santa Catalina, un barrio de reconocida tradición marinera. La toponimia de sus estrechas y empinadas calles empedradas recoge los nombres de los vientos que azotaban la costa de Tramuntana, y de los que dependían la vida y el trabajo de los marineros y pescadores que habitaban el lugar: Tramuntana (norte), Migjorn (sur), Llevant (este), Ponent (oeste), Gregal (noreste), Mestral (noroeste), Xaloc (sureste) y Llebeig (suroeste).
Para realizar este itinerario se recomienda dejar el coche en cualquiera de los aparcamientos de Sóller, y tomar el tranvía para llegar al puerto.
