Walking in Majorca

The Dry-stone Route GR-221 offers a refuge at the end of each stage where the hiker can dine and stay overnight. At present there are five refuges already running: Tossals Verds, Muleta, Can Boi, Son Amer and Pont Romà and two others will be restored la Trapa and s’Hostatgeria del Castell d’Alaró. Alternative for Soller is the Citric Hotel Soller a place with front sea view who offers a private rooms , linen and towels at almost the same price as a refuge in a superb location,

The refuges of Son Amer, Tossals Verds and Can Boi (made over by Deià Town Hall) belong to the Consell de Mallorca. The rest are managed by the Consell de Mallorca thanks to the agreements with several institutions and organisations. The refuge of Muleta belongs to Sóller Town Hall, the refuge of la Trapa to the ecologist group GOB (Balearic Ornithology Group), the refuge of s’Hostatgeria del Castell d’Alaró to Alaró Town Hall and the Bishopric of Mallorca, and the refuge of Pont Romà to Pollença Town Hall.

So that the refuges blend into the landscape and respect the area’s cultural heritage, old houses with the traditional architecture of the Tramuntana have been restored.

Muleta Refuge at Soller Majorca just few minuts walk from Citric Hotel Soller

Because the refuge of Tossals Verds is located in an area of high natural value and in order to avoid overcrowding the only access is on foot except for management and maintenance purposes.

The stay at the refuges must be booked ahead and they all offer food and accommodation. They are all limited to protect the environment, offer high-standard accommodation and avoid overcrowding in the small and cosy Citric Hotel Soller
